Heathcote is a wine growing region 40 minutes from Harcourt Valley Vineyards (HV). The soils here are Cambrian - red and deep with excellent water holding capacity. HW sources some excellent fruit grown on these soils and crafts the wine with minimal intervention to reflect the terroir from where it comes. The wine shows a typical deep red hue that you would expect from the region, however the palate delivers something a little more unexpected. It shows a medium weight and surprising softness and elegance. The use of French and American oak gives vanillin characters to the dark fruit flavor of the wine. Winning a gold medal in the Heathcote Wine Show and Best Wine at show at Kyneton, this surely is a new release that won't disappoint. Wine Genius Vibrant purple edged and utterly fruit-driven, resoundingly fresh with blue fruits, soaked plum, vanillin/cedary oak and significant perfumed lift. Pliable tannins are aptly surrounded by crackling acidity, plums and lavender, with generous length this is another excellent Shiraz by Harcourt. Wine Genius 93/100 |
